Extra Activities

Dependant on the number of volunteers at the project and the daily work schedule there may be opportunity for volunteers to join excursions to the surrounding area.                                                                                                                        

Dinner at Casart Lodge

Dinners and drinks out are arranged once every couple of weeks to the adjacent Casart lodge which boasts an infinity pool set into the bush – perfect for cooling off after a hard days work. Dinner is also arranged at Lizards restaurant or Buffalo Grill in the town of Phalaborwa.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Other excursions that can be arranged depending on the number of volunteers and the availability include:

• Elephant whispers – hands on interaction and safari with elephants on the banks of the river Sabie in nearby Hazyview.

• Khamai Reptile Centre in Hoedspruit –  renowned for its care and rehabilitation of ‘problem’ reptiles. The centre also provides a chance to have a close encounter with ostrich and squirrel monkys.

• Jessica the hippo – she was orphaned at a very young age, when floods swept her away from her mother. Rescued by a family in Hoedspruit, you can visit her and help with daily feeding and back rubs!
